Coach Vu

Ivan Vu was an accomplished Division 1 player at Valparaiso University (10.6 pts. 5.7 reb. 1.9 ast) and a former Big10 assistant coach. Valpo Graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Science, Minor: Physical Education and Mechanical Engineering.  After playing for Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew, The 6’11 Croatian native took his talent internationally and played in Germany, Belgium and Puerto Rico.  Ivan was the first European player to play in Puerto Rico’s Superior League 2000.  

While in Europe, he played in the prestigious Euro League for Spirou Charleroi (2001-02). After his playing days, he returned to Valparaiso University as an Assistant Coach under the guidance of Coach Drew and began the development process of his coaching foundation and philosophy.  His coaching career includes stops at major Division 1 institutions that include,DePaul, Northwestern and most recently Marshall University.

Coach Vu’s coaching philosophy has influence from some of the greatest minds in the game from across the world.  Including, to Homer Drew / Scott Drew (Valparaiso University), Jerry Wrainwright (DePaul University), Bill Carmody (Northwestern University), Oliver Purnell (DePaul University), Dan D’Antoni (Marshall University) and Mladen Sestan, who coached the Croatian U16 National Team / Head Coach (European Champion, 1995) who also was the development and personal coach for Dragan Bender (4th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft).
